Coaching has a beginning and an end, if it goes on forever I would not call myself a successful coach
Your client finishing your coaching services does not mean you’ve failed.
In fact, it’s the greatest form of success you could possibly have!
Your client finishing means SO many things:
You have helped them achieve what they want to achieve
They’ve found value in your coaching
You formed a strong relationship with them
They feel comfortable terminating the relationship
You helped them find their power
They feel ready to step into their own
If our clients never graduated, it would mean we AREN’T doing our jobs as coaches! We don’t want our clients to need us forever; we want them to take what they’ve learned through coaching, and apply it to their lives on their own.
And as a coach, you can learn things about yourself when your clients finish!
What emotions is it bringing up with you?
What did you learn about yourself from this client?
What did this client teach you?
How will you apply this moving forward?
Letting our clients go and finish working with them can be so hard. But I like to remind myself that the end of our relationship as client and coach, is not the end of our relationship altogether. We are now two citizens working to better ourselves in the world, and operating at our highest power, and I feel honored to do that alongside them.
