Coffee coffee coffee…

I’m dependent on caffeine.

And it’s probably time for me to reduce my caffeine consumption.

You may be asking “Why is she writing a LinkedIn post about this?” - but it’s because I see the same dependency in almost all of my coworkers, friends, and family members.

I thought I would share some things with you all that I’ve found helpful in tackling my caffeine problem.

The average American drinks about 135mg of caffeine a day - which is about 12oz of coffee. This is perfectly fine - the FDA says the healthy maximum is 300mg. But, the average energy drink has 250mg-300mg… so more than one energy drink and you’re WELL over your daily caffeine limit.

Reducing caffeine intake is BRUTAL - for the first 2 days. It takes about 2-9 days for it to truly clear your system.

Exercise is a great caffeine replacement. Even a morning walk will perk me up the same way caffeine will!

No judgment to anyone who loves their morning coffee - but be mindful of its impacts on you, and on your overall health. Speaking from someone who’s had one too many caffeine shakes
