Every single person has an ego. I’ve talked about ego in workshops, in speaking engagements, and in my coaching work (1-2-1, parent, young adult).
Having some ego is healthy - it allows you to sustain self-confidence, feel good in your own skin, and push your interpersonal limits.
But too much ego leads to insecurity… and insecurity can deepen generational divides that are already present in the workplace.
Ego can drive individuals from different generations to butt heads and shout their opinions the loudest, without taking the time to appreciate and consider the other voices in the room.
Ego can also breed insecurity - in both yourself and in others. In others, your ego dominating whatever space you’re in can push others' voices to the periphery, and diminish their feelings of comradery in the workplace. In yourself, ego can drive you to put yourself ahead of others and be blind to your own faults - which can later trigger insecurity due to the lack of personal development.
We must become conscious of our egos if we wish to further personal and communal growth. I’ve made this large part of my most recent workshop, Everything Begins With You, as I fully believe that ego work is essential to our journeys.
I also have some speaking availability coming up - and would love to come to your workplace and discuss ego and the power of bridging generational gaps.
If you’d like to engage in ego and insecurity work, personally, communally, or cross-generationally, schedule a free conversation with me - you’ll never regret an investment in yourself.
Much love,
Dr. Jain
