I have been an empty nester for a few years now.
My son and I have spent YEARS working on our relationship and fostering genuine connection - much of which we developed by utilizing the tools I give my coaching clients (individual, family, and parent), and frequently come up in speaking events. Without this foundation, I doubt we would be as close as we are today, especially with us living apart. Shoot, I’ve even done a TedTalk about the relationship between your teen and you! Maybe I should do another one about your adult child and you… but that’s for another time.
I am fortunate enough to have a very close relationship with my son despite my empty-nestedness, but we didn’t get to this place overnight - and I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t miss having him around sometimes (okay, all the time).
My experiences have made me very passionate about offering this to clients - and encouraging people to explore life coaching as they navigate life as empty nesters.
There are so many challenges that come with being in an empty nest; creating a new routine that isn’t centered around your kids, finding new hobbies, navigating the identity shift that comes with becoming the parent of an adult, and so many more. It’s an emotionally tumultuous time, and coaching has been proven to help with life changes!
I myself have a life coach - and have for many years. They have helped me navigate the changes that I went through when my son moved out, as well as learning how to be myself again as my identity as a parent changed. It was a difficult period of time - but I am endlessly grateful to my coach, and to myself for investing in my wellness and setting myself up for success at the time.
I would love to provide the same thing to my clients as a coach - helping people navigate complex life changes, come into their own, and recognize their power is something I view as an honor, and will pour my heart and soul into perfecting.
If you know of anyone who you think may benefit from this kind of coaching, or you yourself are an empty nester, schedule a free consultation with me! There’s no harm in spending 20 minutes exploring potential self-improvement.
