I was reminded by my coach this week, that courage is often found in the small things.
Courage is not always blazing trails, speaking to 1000s of people, or standing tall and proud.
Sometimes it’s making your bed when you struggle to get up.
Cleaning your desk off after days of staring at the clutter.
Doing some exercise when you’d rather be sitting on the couch.
Making dinner when you’d rather buy takeout.
Courage is not always grandiose or beautiful - it often lurks in what we perceive as insignificant moments in our lives.
I find this empowering; knowing that I am a courageous person, who is strong and works hard, whether it be on a large or small scale. And it helps remind me that I’m human - not every day will be one where I take on the world, feel like moving mountains, and check off my to-do list left and right. Some days will be muted, full of self-care, or focused on rest. And that’s courageous too.
This week, I hope to bring this to my coaching clients as well and remind them that the little things they do are just as courageous as their big accomplishments. I plan to bring this to my son, and remind him that him being him, is courageous.
Who can you remind of their courage this week? How can you remind yourself?
