I’ve had some people reach out to me lately, wondering how you know when you need a life coach - especially in different stages of life (parent, teen, group, 1:1). So I thought it was time to put together a handy-dandy little reference guide for how you know when you need a life coach!
In general, no matter what kind of coaching you’re seeking, those who may benefit from a life coach are folks who want to focus on personal or professional growth and development and have little concern about the past. Coaching places an emphasis on the future and growth. More specifically:
You may need a parent coach if…
You resonate with Laura. Laura has 3 kids, her youngest is in kindergarten, and her oldest is in her sophomore year of high school. Between her kids, her job, and her social life, she constantly feels like she’s giving everyone but herself attention, and that the attention she is giving isn’t as high-quality as she would like. She sometimes feels like she’s only Mom, and not Laura.
You may need a teen coach if…
You resonate with Dylan. Dylan is a high school junior - and if you asked him, he would say he’s a mess. He’s always tired and strung out, bouncing from extracurricular to extracurricular, on top of trying to maintain his GPA and reach out to colleges. He’s struggling with anxiety, and he doesn’t know what he wants his future to look like. He also doesn’t want to talk to his parents about all of this - it’s all they want to talk about right now, and he wishes he could just get away from it a little!
You may need a group coach if…
You’re like Shannon. Shannon thrives in group environments. She loves teamwork and bouncing ideas off other people. She never feels more motivated than when she’s surrounded by others working toward a similar goal!
You may need a 1:1 coach if…
You’re like Jean. Jean has very specific goals she wants to achieve, but is struggling with motivation and direction. She knows what she wants to do, but she doesn’t know how to get there. She’s also been fighting with her spouse more and is struggling to keep healthy boundaries between her work life and her personal life.
If you find yourself resonating with any of these people, don’t hesitate to reach out to me and schedule a free consultation. As someone with their doctorate in leadership and change, and a seasoned coach of over a decade, I am confident that no matter which category you may find yourself in, I can help you achieve your goals.
Much Love,
